Disowned by his father and banished to Siberia, Volodya exemplifies the courage and sacrifice of those who stood up to a totalitarian state. Ever dream of going to Israel and being able to haggle in Hebrew in the markets? Are you tired of pronouncing the prayers and blessings wrong and yearn to sound like a Native Israeli? Then this course is for you! Designed to meet each student's needs and bring the class to par, we will start at the very beginning focusing on basic conversational skills. Based on the Israeli "Ulpan Style" approach, we will learn Modern Hebrew, as it is spoken in Israel today, adding songs, games, and the necessary "survival slang!"

Intermediate Hebrew Class
[Mondays 6:00-7:30]
So, you can read Hebrew and hold a basic conversation, Mazal Tov! This course is designed to take you deeper. Ready to tackle the infamous past tense conjugations and more complex sentence structures? Want to tell your dog to sit or heel, in Hebrew? Well, you're not alone. We will expand our vocabulary, and verb conjugations, making sure "no student is left behind!" This class is open to continuing students, as well as newcomers.
PREREQUISITE - attendance of Fall semester, or Sara Batz's level II/III
Advanced Hebrew Conversation Groups

This class is ideal for advanced students yearning to maintain previous knowledge while adding a new vocabulary.

48 Ways To Wisdom Continues with Morah Yehudis Fishman
Tuesdays, 9:30 - 11 am at the Boulder JCC
Feb. 7, Feb. 14, Feb. 21, Feb. 28
How do we carry the joy of Simchat Torah into the rest of the year? How do we make our connection to Torah as vibrant in our minds and hearts as we did with our feet? One way is to explore the 48 ways through which the sages tell us that Torah is acquired. In this Hebrew year of 5766, let us delve into Mishna 6, chapter 6 of 'Ethics of the Fathers,' and see how each of us can acquire 'the crown of Torah.' Unlike the 'crowns of priesthood and royalty,' the crown of Torah is available to anyone who is willing to take up the challenge and become a true mentch in this process. This class is open both to those who have already taken some of the 48 ways class, as well as those who are new to the 48 ways. Cost: $120 for Boulder JCC members: $140 for non-members Drop-ins welcome @ $15 per class. To register, email MenorahRSVP@boulderjcc.org, or call (303) 998-1900, ext. 9.
