Peter will be performing from his newly release family music CD, My Green Kite
(Rounder Records), which will also be on sale at the concert.
Peter Himmelman is an acclaimed creator of children’s music, an
Emmy-nominated TV composer, and a critically lauded rock troubadour.
His new family music release My Green Kite (Rounder Records), offers his unique
take on the world. This childlike celebration of innocence and wonder appeals
to a range of ages, sparked with a wi! t that has made Himmelman a favorite
family pop artist for at least the last decade. While the songs on My Green
Kite are written for kids, the issues raised provoke thought in listeners of any
age. The humor and slice-of-life vignettes found in each song are inspired by
Himmelman’s own experiences as a father of four children. To learn more
about Peter and hear his music, visit www.peterhimmelman.com

Menorah’s
Talking Pictures Film Series
In memory of Kurt
Vonnegut
“Mother
Night” (1996)
Directed by Keith
Gordon
Starring Nick
Nolte, John Goodman, Alan Arkin
Thursday,
August 23, 7 p.m.
Suggested
donation: $5 for Boulder JCC members; $6 for non-members
This darkly comic
film version of Kurt Vonnegut Jr.'s novel tells the twisted tale of an amoral
American writer living in Nazi Germany who is recruited by the United
States as an
informer during World War II. Working undercover, he becomes one of the leading
anti-Semitic news broadcasters in Nazi Germany. Years later, he's recognized as
a Nazi and thrown into an Israeli prison, where he pens his memoirs and awaits
his fate. The riveting screen adaptation draws out the moral conundrums in
Vonnegut's thought-provoking novel about good and evil, role-playing, and
conscience, which concludes that there is no escaping the burdens of living in
a political world or our obligation to take responsibility for what we do.

Jewish Community Study Update
Interviews continue across the 7-counties of Metro Denver/Boulder for the 2007
Jewish Community Study. A total of 1,400 calls will be made when the survey
process is complete. People whose names have been randomly selected and who
have given interviews say they found the process interesting and enjoyable.
They can feel confident that they have provided information which will help the
Jewish community. This summer, three Research and Development Teams of the
Study will be conducting focus groups and online surveys to learn more in-depth
about the attitudes and needs of young adults, baby boomers, and those who live
in areas not typically served by Jewish programming. Stay tuned; Study results
will be available in October. INFORMATION: www.jewishcolorado.org/20!
07study. The
study is being conducted by Ukeles Associates, Inc., managed by Allied Jewish
Federation of Colorado, and is made possible primarily through a generous grant
