Holocaust Awareness Week

Hillel at the University of Colorado at Boulder and the Holocaust Awareness Week Committee are planning the 24th annual Holocaust Awareness Week. The theme for this year, L'dor V'Dor: The Second Generation of the Holocaust, focuses on how the second generation of the Holocaust has been affected by the plight of their parents and on the unfortunate reality of genocide today. This year's sponsors also include the University of Colorado Student Union, the Cultural Events Board, and the Center for Multicultural Affairs.

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Eva Fogelman, a pioneer in leading groups for generations of the Holocaust and other therapeutic interventions. She is the co-director of Psychotherapy with Generations of the Holocaust and Related Traumas and Child Development Research at the Training Institute for Mental Health and a senior research fellow at the Center for Social Research at CUNY. Dr. Fogelman is the writer and co-producer of the award-winning documentary Breaking the Silence: The Generation After the Holocaust, and is author of Conscience and Courage: Rescuers of Jews during the Holocaust. Dr. Fogelman will be speaking at 7:00pm on Monday, February 25 in the University of Colorado at Boulder's University Memorial Center in the Glenn Miller Ballroom.

Throughout the day on Tuesday, February 26th and Wednesday February 27th there will be survivors sharing their stories, a survivor of the Rwandan Genocide and films on the theme of the week. For more information contact Hillel at 303-442-6571.
