The Boulder International Film Festival is showing a free film, Paper Clips, for students in fifth through 12 grades on Friday Feb. 16th at 1pm in the auditorium of Boulder High School. There is no school that day and no tickets are necessary.

Paper Clips is the amazing story of how one middle school learned about the holocaust by collecting paper clips from all over the world to represent each person lost in the holocaust. What begins as a simple question----what does 11 million look like? becomes a project for the school, the community, journalists, holocaust survivors and classrooms all over the world. What the kids and the community learn about the Holocaust and its victims turns into an inspiring experience no one could have imagined! And amazingly, on Sept. 11, 2001, no one could have planned what happened to this small community!

After previewing it, two 7th grader from Platte MS students expressed "we have to tell our principal, this is the kind of movie we should see in school!"

The Paper Clips project is an unforgettable lesson of how a committed group of children and educators can change the world one classroom at a time.

When the students of Tennessee's Whitwell Middle School began studying the Holocaust as a way to learn about intolerance and diversity, nobody could have predicted the results. In 2001, the Paper Clip Project culminated in a unique memorial that changed the lives of those who created it, as well as touching Holocaust survivors and countless communities.

Because Norwegians invented the paper clip and used it as a symbol of solidarity against the Nazis, students started collecting them to help visualize such vast numbers of victims. As word spread online and in the media, paper clips poured in from around the world, 11 million of which are enshrined in an authentic German railcar standing in the schoolyard.

"Patiently told and lovingly made" ( Variety ), this inspiring, award- winning documentary shows how even small-town students and educators can teach the world powerful lessons.
