Summer Magic Camp for Children with Special Needs is June 20 and August 2

Campers and Teen Buddies Needed!

DENVER—April 6, 2007— Summer Magic, a program that provides day-trips for campers with special needs and volunteer teen buddies, seeks participants for its two upcoming sessions. Children with disabilities are invited to spend the day at Shwayder Camp near Idaho Springs on Wednesday, June 20 or at JCC Ranch Camp in Elbert on Thursday, August 2. The JCC Ranch Camp is a new location for this year’s program.

Now in its sixteenth year of service, Summer Magic provides activities such as horseback rides, arts and crafts projects, sing-alongs, and basketball. The fee is $20 per day, which includes lunch and transportation. Some scholarships are available.

Summer Magic is also looking for teen buddies to accompany campers with disabilities on these two
day-trips. Buddies may volunteer for either Wednesday, June 20 or Thursday, August 2, or for both sessions. Training will be provided and no experience is necessary. Some paid positions are available.

Formerly run by Colorado Agency for Jewish Education (CAJE), Summer Magic is now sponsored by the Jewish Disabilities Network. For information, reservations, or to volunteer as a teen buddy, please contact Rita Singer at (720) 335-0854 or rocky2323@aol.com.
