>>>>Printer friendly version of this page<<<< Info sheet for Oneg sponsorsRelax, Enjoy! The first "rule" of sponsoring an oneg is that you should enjoy it. Ivdu et HaShem b'simchah! You are helping to create the sacred space where friends and families can come together as a community and a congregation. You are also providing the bread and wine we can bless and share, and the goodies as we catch up with friends on the happenings of the past week. Sponsoring an oneg is a mitzvah - a happy one!Setting Up The OnegOneg sponsors should provide a challah or two, a bottle of red wine (Kosher or Organic would be good choices), a bottle of grape juice, and some other food for noshing, such as fruit, sweets, crackers and cheese etc. Setting up is quite simple. There are platters in the small kitchen upstairs to hold the kiddush, challah, and snacks. Wine should be poured in the ceramic kiddush cups, and grape juice in the metal kiddush cups. The challah should be set on a platter and covered with our challah cover. Arrange the snacks as you like. Set all this out to have it ready at the end of services. Use your best guess as to how many to pour. You can also fill the hot water urn and set out tea bags and coffee cups. If you have any questions, just ask! Your help setting up our sacred space is greatly appreciated. Anyone can pitch in and help set up; oneg sponsors are especially encouraged. If you don't know what to do just ask. Cleaning up afterwards.Services are not done until everything is cleaned and put back! We ask EVERYONE to help clean up, not just the oneg sponsors. However, the oneg sponsors should take special responsibility to see that everything is in order before leaving. Generally, put everything back where you found it. The kiddush cups should be washed in the kitchen sink, dried, and returned to storage. Clean off the tables. Put all the recyclables in the bin by the small kitchen upstairs. Trash should be consolidated to one bag, and taken out to the trash can east of the main entrance. Extra trash bags are in a drawer by the sink; typically, a spare is kept in the bottom of each can, under the bag in use. The carpets of the sanctuary, the narthex and the kitchen should be cleaned with either the carpet sweeper or a vacuum cleaner, both found in the sacristy. The vacuum cleaner may sometimes be found in the janitor closet in the office hallway. Leaving the BuildingMake sure everyone else has left. Return the thermostat to where you found it. Turn off all lights. Make sure all interior doors are left open or closed, as noted on a sign on each door. This is important to minimize heating costs. Make sure all exterior doors are closed and locked. Leave the building either through the front door, if you have a key to lock it behind you, or through one of the self-latching doors, if you have no key (after locking the main doors from the inside). Go home. Good Shabbos! SchedulePlease look on the Pardes Levavot calendar to see who will be hosting the oneg for each of our services. Questions?
