Great Sponsorship Opportunities
Golf

This year your sponsorship is more important to us then ever. The need in our community for the unique educational programs and social opportunities offered by Stepping Stones continues to grow. According to a recent study released in the fall of 2006 the intermarriage rate in the age category of 19-39 year olds is 72%. Stepping Stones has proven that given support and education intermarried homes can insure that the future of Judaism continues by promoting our valued traditions and rituals of study, prayer, and tzedakah.

This year's tournament is being generously underwritten by The Golf Club at Bear Dance and Steve & Elizabeth Kris. All proceeds will go to the program, directly impacting Stepping Stones' ability to continue our mission to welcome, support and educate interfaith couples and families.

Meet a Stepping Stones Family
The Schutter Family
Schutter

Tom & Linda Schutter, with their two children Kyle & Skylar, enrolled in the Boulder Stepping Stones Program in the Fall of 2005. Linda writes, “I am Jewish and my husband is Atheist and we agreed that our children would be Jewish. I wanted some form of education for them and us. I didn't have a formal Jewish upbringing and wanted to learn more of the traditions and significance of Jewish history and symbols and stories. We chose Stepping Stones because of the interfaith component.” Linda would recommend Stepping Stones to other interfaith families because, “it is a terrific way to ease into a Jewish family life. To explore different avenues of bringing Judaism into their lives whether it's joining a synagogue or simply practicing traditions in the home.”

Jewish Parenting Tip
Passover is a joyous holiday
Hug

The Passover Seder is an interactive, spiritual and spirited experience. Sing, dance, get silly- do puppet shows- have fun and have meaning. So many of us have somber and serious seder experiences from our childhood and want to do something more fun for our children. Decide on one or two pieces that you want to focus on with your children- maybe the 4 questions (and answers), maybe the plagues, or maybe the foods on the seder table. Give treats to all who ask questions! What is different about the food, our clothes, our dishes, our table, our living room etc. Encourage your children to co-create a very different physical and spiritual environment. Whatever you do- make it meaningful for the adults too! Kids will learn watching us having a meaningful experience! Submitted by Deb Dusansky Kornfeld

Annual Stepping Stones Passover Seder
An amazing success!
PassoverChildren

While interfaith parents studied the meaning of Passover from an adult perspective with Deb Dusansky Kornfeld and Phyllis Adler, their children took a journey back in time to Egypt. The children learned from “Moses” about the Jewish struggle from slavery to freedom. They pretended to be slaves and built a pyramid and made Charoset as a symbol of the mortar. They went with “Moses” to ask “Pharoah” to let us out of Egypt and when Pharoah refused to let the Jews leave, they made frog hats to become one of the 10 plagues. After Pharoah let them go, they made matzah and Moses “parted” the Sea of Reeds for them to cross. All of the families came to together for an interactive Seder. We learned, ate and sang songs. It was a wonderful evening of celebration. Submitted by Carol Morris

Donate to Stepping Stones
One year of programming per family costs Stepping Stones $1,800. Stepping Stones provides this service to our families for $180 per year (only 10% of the total cost). Please help us to subsidize our programming so that no interfaith family seeking Jewish continuity is ever turned away.
