They will also be included in her upcoming book, to be published by Quest Theosophical Publishers in the fall of 2008. The CDs wil be available at Pardes Levavot. Kindly make your checks payable to "Spirit of the Earth" (tax deductible). Your contibution will help support Reb Leah's work.

Thank You

Thanks to everyone who came for our Family Shabbat Dinner this past Friday. We had a very sweet evening and enjoyable dinner.

Thank you to all the great volunteers at our Boulder Jewish Festival booth this Sunday. What a great turnout! Your help is greatly appreciated. A very special thanks to Faith Davis for her artistic skill in designing our booth this year, and David Kirsh, her able assistant. Many who entered our tent of meeting complemented its beauty and welcoming feel (not to mention the opportunity to sit down in the cool interior).

Pardes Levavot welcomes two special newcomers to our community and congregation. Donna Friedman, a student in the ALEPH Rabbinic Smicha program, will be serving as Reb Nadya and Reb Victor's rabbinic intern. She and her beloved partner, Nalini Indorf Kaplan, just moved from Israel into their new home in Boulder - together with Miles and Ollie (two of the cutest 4-leggeds you've ever met). The rest of the story will be told once they're settled in.

Building Repair

Volunteers needed for Ryan Dozier's Eagle Scout Service Project. Many Pardes Levavot members recall helping with Robert Schrier's Eagle Scout Service Project two years ago, where Robert lead us in creating a prayer garden. We have a new project. Ryan's project includes pulling rock and dirt away from 220 feet of the sanctuary perimeter outside to change the elevation for drainage. This is a very important project for the integrity of the building. All hands are needed. The project will begin Saturday, June 30th at 9 a.m. and should be done by 4 p.m. It will recommence on Sunday, July 1 at 11a.m. Troop #377 is sponsored by Shepherd of the Hills and has blessed us continuously by an abundance of great service projects. Refreshments will be served. We thank you for your time and support.

SPECIAL MEMBER NEEDS/OFFERINGS

Making Parenting A Spiritual Practice

A very special class at Elat Chayyim, August 20-26 - Family Week, taught by Rabbis Victor and Nadya Gross.

Children come into this world bearing the wisdom gained in lifetimes lived before and the memory of God breathing life into them once again. Their greatest gift to us is to open our eyes to the unlimited potential and purity of the universe. Our greatest gift to them is to overcome our controlling need to shape them in our image.

The spiritual practice of parenting seeks to create a safe, loving and supportive environment where these young beings can grow in conscious partnership with their Divine intention. When we learn to parent in this way, our homes are defined by love, authenticity and meaning.

Come learn this practice, sourced in our rabbinic and mystical tradition, and find new joy and purpose in your relationships with your children.

Stilling the Mind, Opening the Heart: Where Science Meets Spirituality

With Adam Engle. Tuesday, June 19. 7 p.m. At the City Club 885 Arapahoe Ave. (This City Club is in the Historic Highland Building on the NW corner of 9th and  Arapahoe. Additional parking is available at the Boulder Public Library.) $10 for talk and wine and cheese reception

How do we create and maintain a healthy mind? Can happiness be learned? Does meditation cause changes in the brain? How are thought and feeling connected? Is the ability to focus something that can be improved through practice like playing an instrument? Join us as Adam Engle talks about the research being done by the Mind and Life Institute of Boulder, which is pioneering a new field known as contemplative neuroscience, inspired by a dialogue Engle organized between neuroscientists and the Dalai Lama at his home in Dharamsala, India, in 2000. The Dalai Lama asked the scientists to take the practices developed by Buddhists and other contemplative traditions and test them in labs, and, if they were determined to be beneficial, to see if there were ways to teach them in secular environments. Adam Engle is chairman and cofounder of the The Mind and Life Institute, which brought the Dalai Lama to Denver for last year’s talk at the Pepsi Center, "The Science of a Compassionate Life."
