Thank You

Thanks to Allied Jewish Federation for their support of our Circle of Family Education program!

Our deepest condolences go out to Pardes Levavot members Arleen, Jon and Jonah Miller. Arleen's mother Shirley Elaine Garfinkle passed on 11 Tamuz, 5767 (June 27, 2007). The Los Angeles Times published the following obituary: GARFINKLE , Shirley Elaine (81) Passed away on June 27, 2007. Beloved wife of Dr. Jack Garfinkle for 63 years. Mother of Arleen, Jan, Todd and Jody. Grandmother of Jonah, Idan, Avia, Ariel, Shira and Bianca. Funeral was held at Groman Eden Mortuary on June 29, 2007. Shiva is being observed at the family residence. Friends are welcome all week long. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Shirley's favorite charity in Israel: House to House, c/o Stacy Turk, 313 Bishop Dr., Macedonia, OH 44056.

Sadly we also extend our deepest condolences to Miriam Pollack whose beloved dog Max died this past weekend.

We would also like to reiterate our thanks to John Weidner for establishing the Leslie Ann Weidner Memorial Scholarship Fund. The fund provides scholarships to our post-Bnai Mitvah youth to attend Jewish leadership programs, summer camps and Israel programs or trips.

SPECIAL MEMBER NEEDS/OFFERINGS

Making Parenting A Spiritual Practice

A very special class at Elat Chayyim, August 20-26 - Family Week, taught by Rabbis Victor and Nadya Gross.

Children come into this world bearing the wisdom gained in lifetimes lived before and the memory of God breathing life into them once again. Their greatest gift to us is to open our eyes to the unlimited potential and purity of the universe. Our greatest gift to them is to overcome our controlling need to shape them in our image.

The spiritual practice of parenting seeks to create a safe, loving and supportive environment where these young beings can grow in conscious partnership with their Divine intention. When we learn to parent in this way, our homes are defined by love, authenticity and meaning.

Come learn this practice, sourced in our rabbinic and mystical tradition, and find new joy and purpose in your relationships with your children.
