New CD from Rabbi Shefa Gold

Rabbi Shefa Gold has just released a new CD, called The Majesty of Nurture, which will be celebrated at a concert on January 27th at the Woodstock Jewish Center at 7PM. You can purchase it through her website: www.RabbiShefaGold.com

In speaking about this new music, Shefa says,

"The Majesty of Nurture takes us on a journey of prayer. We begin by invoking the Divine presence in order to unify the places of duality in us. We turn then to the practice of gratefulness for our lives. We acknowledge the purity and infinite potential of our souls and then do the work of balancing the forces of will and surrender. We invite in a vision of our future self in order to see who we are becoming and then we celebrate, first with the practice of complete satisfaction and then exuberant praise. We turn then to the inspiration of Torah and to the wisdom of the Prophets. Our prayer concludes an affirmation of our participation in the process of the evolution of consciousness, a hymn to the mystery of God, and a celebration of Joy."

Reb Zalman in Hawaii

Come join Reb Zalman Schachter-Shalomi and Eve Ilsen for a magical Shabbaton on the Big Island of Hawaii over the weekend of February 15-17, 2008. The Outrigger hotel is giving participants in the Shabbaton a great rate of $135 per night for ocean view rooms and these rates are good 5 days before the Shabbaton to five days after. Leading prayer and teaching in Hawaii has been a dream of Reb Zalman's for a long time. For more information or to download the flyer and registration form go to www.konabethshalom.org.

An Irish priest and a Rabbi found themselves sharing a compartment on a train. After a while, the priest opened a conversation by saying, "I know that, in your religion, you're not supposed to eat pork. Have you actually ever tasted it?

The Rabbi said, "I must tell the truth. Yes, I have, on the odd occasion."

Then the Rabbi had his turn of interrogation. He asked, "Your religion, too...I know you're supposed to be celibate. But...."

The priest replied, "Yes, I know what you're going to ask. I have succumbed once or twice."

There was silence for a while. Then the Rabbi peeped around the newspaper he was reading and said, "Better than pork, isn't it?"
