Getting Involved

Jewish Family Service Passover

Dear Friends at Pardes Levavot,

Passover begins this year on April 19. In addition to holding Passover seders in 7 different retirement homes, Boulder Jewish Family Service does something a little more special, and a little more personal. Last year we delivered more than 80 Passover “goody bags” to Jewish elders in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and independent facilities in the Boulder area to enable each person to celebrate the holiday with traditional foods. This project has been a great success and the recipients really appreciate all of our efforts. This is a great mitzvah project for everyone, and we hope you will participate. The bags will be delivered on April 10th, so please bring your donations in no later than April 4th.

Please bring any of the following items with you to shul. There are drop off boxes in the building lobby.

KOSHER FOR PASSOVER
Matzah
Gefilte Fish
Macaroons/ Cookies/ Cake
Jelly or Chocolate Candy
Horseradish that does not need refrigeration

Boulder Jewish Family Service deeply appreciates your kindness. Thanks so much for helping us perform this mitzvah for members of our community. Due to your contributions, there will be many Jewish elders and disabled residents in Boulder who will be able to celebrate Passover in their own homes.

Thank you again,

Margie Freedman and Roberta Reinfeld
Resource Coordinators

A little boy returned home from Hebrew school and his father asked, "what did you learn today?"

"The Rabbi told us how Moses led the children of Israel out of Egypt."

"How?"

The boy said "Moses was a big strong man and he beat up Pharoah. Then while he was down, he got all the people together and ran towards the sea. When he got there, he had the Corps of Engineers build a huge pontoon bridge.  Once they got on the other side, they blew up the bridge while the Egyptians were trying to cross."

The father was shocked. "Is that what the Rabbi taught you?"

The boy replied, "No. But you'd never believe the story he DID tell us!"
