Chant and Meditation Resumes Next Week!

Save the Date! Chant and Meditation will resume next week following a brief summer hiatus. Note the new time, 7:00pm until 8:30pm. Join us on Wednesday, September 3rd as the magic begins again.

Participation in High Holy Days

We are inviting participation in High HolyDays services and preparation. We need musicians, singers, torah readers, poets and other contributions to the services. Please contact rabbis@pardeslevavot.org if you are interested. We also seek  volunteers to be the "Levites", coordinating all the preparation, including decorating the sanctuary, preparation of food, creative outreach to the unaffiliated, and more. Contact info@pardeslevavot.org if you would like to participate.

Meditate '08: A Place for Quiet Contemplation at the Democratic National Convention

Come join us for a six-day outdoor meditation retreat during the Democratic National Convention. It's an interfaith gathering with meditation teachers from the Buddhist, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Native American, and African spiritual traditions. The teachers will offer brief talks and short periods of guided meditation. There will also be a yoga class every morning, and entertainment in the evenings after 7:00.

The event will take place at Fishback Landing Park, between the Downtown Aquarium and the REI Superstore (near Confluence Park.) The program begins Saturday morning, August 23, and continues through Thursday afternoon, August 28. For more information, please go to our website, www.meditate08.org

On Saturday evening, August 23rd we're holding an opening ceremony from 5:30 to 6:30 at the Green at DenverAquarium (700 Water Street). It's an outdoor event with entertainment and invited guests. Please bring a picnic blanket or lawn chair to sit on. Consult the website for more information.

All events are free and open to the public.

Rabbis Nadya and Victor will be among the many wonderful teachers leading a segment of the week's contemplative practice, on Wednesday, August 27th from 1:00 to 2:30 pm. Reb Nadya will also participate in the opening ceremony.

A little old lady gets onto a crowded bus and stands in front of a seated young girl. Holding her hand to her chest, she says to the girl, "If you knew what I have, you would give me your seat." The girl gets up and gives up the seat.

The girl then takes out a fan and fans herself. The woman looks up and says, "If you knew what I have, you would give me that fan." The girl gives her the fan.

Fifteen minutes later the woman gets up and says to the bus driver, "Stop, I want to get off here." The bus driver tells her he has to drop her at the next corner, not in the middle of the block. Her hand across her chest, she tells the driver, "If you knew what I have, you would let me out here." The bus driver pulls over and opens the door to let her out.

As she's walking out of the bus, he asks, "Madam, what is it you have?"

"Chutzpah," she replies.
