JCC Purim Carnival

The annual JCC Purim Carnival is fast approaching. If you would like to volunteer to help, please contact info@pardeslevavot.org. We need help with: the photo booth (helping the kids take pictures), face painting or hair spray painting. We also have a form to pre-order game tickets, purchase early and save money!

Additionally,
we are looking for outgoing, energetic, goofy people who want to help tell the story of Purim at our carnival. These volunteers will act as wandering minstrels – each taking a character from the Purim story and telling it from his/her point of view to the children at the carnival. Those who volunteer will have the opportunity to help create the script, determine what part you want to play, and choose what shift you want for the carnival (first come/ first serve). To help with this GREAT mitzvah (and have a fun time at the carnival), or to get more information, please contact Sarah Pew at 303-437-9268 or by email at sarah@sarahsparties.com. This is open to anyone 16 years old or older. There is limited space, so please contact Sarah today.

Allied Jewish Federation of Colorado Super Sunday Telethon. March 1 and 2, 2009 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day (with breaks in the afternoons). At the Robert E. Loup JCC in Denver. You can sign up to volunteer on our web site at www.jewishcolorado.org or call 303-316-6466.

A CNN journalist heard about a very old Jewish man who had been going to the Western Wall to pray, twice a day, every day, for a long, long time. So she went to check it out. She went to the Western Wall and there he was, walking slowly up to the holy site. She watched him pray and after about 45 minutes, when he turned to leave, using a cane and moving very slowly, she approached him for an interview.

"Pardon me, sir, I'm Rebecca Smith from CNN. What's your name?"

"Morris Fishbein," he replied.

"Sir, how long have you been coming to the Western Wall and praying?"

"For about 60 years."

"60 years! That's amazing! What do you pray for?"

"I pray for peace between the Christians, Jews and the Muslims. I pray for all the wars and all the hatred to stop. I pray for all our children to grow up safely as responsible adults, and to love their fellow man."

"How do you feel after doing this for 60 years?"

"Like I'm talking to a freakin' wall."
