AT PARDES LEVAVOT

Events This Week

The Sabbath: A Taste Of Eternity

Friday and Saturday, June 19-20

Pardes Levavot is honored to host this Shabbat retreat, sponsored by the Circle of Interspirituality.

The Circle of Interspirituality (CoI) is dedicated to cultivating unity among the great world religions, and our common relationship to the Divine Life. We do not advocate for a watering down of any tradition. We do encourage the practice of "deep ecumenism", an intentional, open and respectful engagement with other traditions, where the truth is found and revealed.

The retreat will begin at 7:00 pm on Friday with Kabbalat Shabbat and a teaching on The Sabbath: A Sanctuary in Time. Shabbat day will begin at 9:00 am and conclude at 6 pm. The day will include an introduction to the rhythm of Shabbat, a contemplative Shabbat morning service, followed by lunch, Torah learning and interfaith dialog throughout the day, punctuated with periods of meditation and chant.

We hope you'll join us for the full retreat. To register, please call 303-776-1460 or 303-684-9397. $50 fee includes lunch and the full Shabbat experience.

If you will be attending services, only - the Friday evening service begins at 7:00 pm; Shabbat morning at 10:00 am.

Getting Involved

From the Shepherd of the Hills Bulletin

Items needed for the Boulder Homeless Shelter: Blankets, Vitamins, Cough Drops, Jelly, Maple Syrup, and Ground Coffee. You may bring donations to Shepherd.

Moishe owned one of the biggest and fastest-growing businesses in Miami, a furniture store. Relatives convinced him that he needed to take a trip to Italy to check out the merchandise himself, and because he was still single, he could check out all the Italian women, and maybe...

As Moishe was checking into a hotel he struck up an acquaintance with a beautiful young lady. She only spoke Italian and he only spoke English, so neither understood a word the other spoke.

He took out a pencil and a notebook and drew a picture of a taxi. She smiled, nodded her head and they went for a ride in the park.

Later, he drew a picture of a table in a restaurant with a question mark and she nodded, so they went to dinner.

After dinner he sketched two dancers and she was delighted.  They went to several nightclubs, drank champagne, danced and had a glorious evening.

It had gotten quite late when she motioned for the pencil and drew a picture of a four-poster bed. Moishe was dumbfounded, and to this day remarks that he's never been able to understand how she knew he was in the furniture business.
