POT LUCK BREAK THE FAST
This
year, we invite you to contribute to our break fast meal and stay to
share in the afterglow of a deeply intimate Yom Kippur observance.
Bring
a dish for the pot luck: vegetarian, dairy or fish. Enough to feed 8-10
others. Something you can prepare in advance and store in our kitchen
during the day.
- bagels and
cream cheese
- salads:
green, pasta, grains, fruit, egg, tuna...
- beverages:
juice, sparkling water
- sweets
- etc.
PLEASE
RSVP so we know how many tables and chairs to set out, paper goods to
have in stock, and to help us coordinate food. Send an email to: markel6@mac.com.
Tell us how many
people you're bringing and what you intend to contribute to the pot
luck meal. We
may ask you to consider something else, if we already have an abundance
of the same dish. If you don't hear back from us, consider your offer
graciously accepted, and bring it with you to services on YK day.
Tzedaka for

Getting
Involved
Learn
Hebrew at Pardes Levavot
We are so blessed
that our own member, Debbi Foster,
is one of the most creative and fun Hebrew teachers in Boulder.
Our
children have been loving her classes for over
a year now. Debbi is presently teaching a 2nd year class for
elementary age children – with room to add more students. They are
working on
reading skills and building a vocabulary, with a focus on prayerbook
Hebrew.
We will offer a beginning Hebrew class for
children, right after Rosh HaShanah. Please contact us if you are
interested in
giving your child this wonderful gift of a creative, fun learning
opportunity
in a small, focused group.
And, for all you adults out there who have always
wanted to learn to read Hebrew, understand enough to participate fully
in
Jewish life in the Synagogue and home….and maybe even celebrate the
Bar/Bat Mitzvah
you missed as a child. A beginning Hebrew class for adults will form
shortly
after the High HolyDays, and may grow into an adult B’nai Mitzvah
program.
Looking ahead – Reb Nadya will offer a Torah
chanting class in the winter or spring of this coming year.
Debbi’s classes meet on Thursday
afternoons/evenings – and we are open to making other options available
as
needed.
Please contact us at Hebrew@pardeslevavot.org
with
any questions you may have, or to sign up for one of our classes.
May this be a year of growth and joy in learning
for all of us.
Come join Pardes
Levavot on our Facebook
page. Engage in discussion, hear of new events, and lend us your
support. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join.

Gunbarrel. It will be from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

are aware of this fellowship event. In an effort to get a better count
of the number of actual attendees (sorry, adults only), would you
please email the Schreier’s at terry@transitionpartnersltd.com
by Wednesday, September 23. Alternatively, you
may sign up at the church where there is a post for Oktoberfest. There,
you can also sign up to bring food. This will be a great event and we

It's Erev Rosh HaShanah and services are about to begin. The synagogue
is packed. As the congregants are milling around shmoozing before
services, everyone seems to be distracated by man who has brought with
him a St. Bernard dog. "What chutzpah!" an elderly woman whispers
aloud.
Services begin, and everyone is fascinated by how well the dog behaves.
The next morning the man and his dog arrive early and promptly begin
davening. This time the dog is wearing its own little tallis and
yarmulke, and even appears, upon closer inspection, to be shuckling
back and forth as the hazzan intones the prayers. The congregation is
amazed.
The week goes by and Kol Nidre arrives. The solemn worship service
begins. The man and his dog are back, and this time, just as the hazzan
is about to begin the prayers, the dog stands up on its hind legs and
howls "Ba-Roooooooch.......!" more melodically than the best hazzan.
After the service, everyone is clamoring to meet this man and his
remarkable dog. Finally the rabbi comes up to him and says, "That's one
talented pooch you have there. You know you should really consider
sending your dog to Rabbinical School."
The man looks down, shakes his head, throws up his hands in disgust and
says, "You talk to him! He wants to be a doctor!"
