CIP BASKETS – This Thanksgiving we will continue the tradition of sharing food baskets with CIP (Community Infant Program with the Mental Health Center of Boulder/Broomfield Counties). Thank you for starting to talk to your friends, neighbors, and co-workers about contributing food and cash donations for the baskets which we’ll assemble the Sunday before the holiday. We will be collecting the food items for a Thanksgiving meal (canned vegetables, instant potatoes, gravy mix, cranberries, etc.), as well as cash donations to cover the cost of the King Soopers gift certificates for the perishable items (turkey, milk, butter, etc.). Last year we provided 120 baskets with the balance of food going to EFAA (Emergency Family Assistance Association). We will soon know how many for this year. Sharing feels great!! House Sitter Needed

Dec 18, 2009 - Jan 8, 2010.

We live in the foothills (mountains) west of Boulder, in the Sugarloaf neighborhood. It is beautiful and peaceful here, and only 20 minutes to downtown Boulder. We are looking for someone to stay in our home and take care of our 2 horses (in the backyard) and our 2 Hungarian sheep dogs who are very loving and friendly, and want a lot of attention when people are home. We don't expect someone to be here all the time, so if you work, that is fine. A 4 wheel drive vehicle would be helpful, but not required. We would, of course, pay for you to house sit. If you are interested, please call me at 303 442-6656. Arleen Miller

It's the yahrzeit of Herman Mendelbaum's death and his widow decides to make a pilgrimage to the cemetery to recite a prayer over his grave and place a small stone, as is the tradition, to show that the deceased is remembered.

She arrives at the cemetery, but it being a while since she had been there, she is confused and cannot find poor Herman's grave site. Finally, she comes across a grounds-keeper who escorts her to a small chapel on the cemetery grounds where the records are kept.

Pouring over large maps and lists, he finally turns to the widow and says, "I can find no record of a Herman Mendelbaum buried here. The closest I can find is a Sadie Mendelbaum."

"That's him!" she exclaims.  "He always put everything in my name."
