Spiritual Pilgrimage to the Holy Land for Peace, Healing and Prayer
March 21-April 2,
2010
Do
you want to visit sacred sites in the Holy Land? Do you want to
celebrate Shabbat and a Pesach Seder in Jerusalem? Do you want to gain
a deeper understanding of the Abrahamic connections between Judaism,
Christianity and Islam? Do you want to meet Jews and Arabs working for
peace in the Holy Land? Do you want to find out more about a new
educational paradigm in Israel for healing and peace that Reb
Zalman Schachter-Shalomi calls "The greatest hope for peace-shalom,
salaam" that teaches Jewish and Arab children to become "agents of
reconciliation"?
This Spring bring the family on an
Interfaith Spiritual Pilgrimage, March 21-April 2, 2010 co-lead by:
Jewish Renewal Rabbis Nadya and
Victor Gross,
We will:
- Pray at the Tomb of the Abraham,
Patriarch of Judaism, Islam and Christianity
- Study the Abrahamic connections of
Judaism, Islam and Christianity
- Visit the Dome of the Rock, the
Western Wall, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and other sites holy to
the Abrahamic religions
- Experience
healing classroom environments and interact with Israeli children and
teachers who are building friendship bridges between Jewish, Arab and
Christian children
- Dine at the homes of Jewish and
Arab families who are transforming polarized communities in Israel
- Celebrate an interfaith Shabbat
and Passover Seder with story telling and song in Jerusalem
- Explore mystical Tsfat
- Learn from respected teachers
- Lunch at the home of a Bedouin
Sheikh, leader of 40,000 Bedouins in the Galilee
- Pray with religious leaders
- Meet inspiring artists and
activists who envision a world based on respect and cooperation
- Take time to meditate and
contemplate in natural surroundings from ancient times
- Bathe in the Dead Sea
- Participate in peacemaking circles
- Conclude with a ceremony for peace
at Rabin Square
- And more!
Torah in
Hebrew - Torah B'Evrit by Rabbi Ori Har-DiGennaro
Dates: Sundays,
17 January, 2010 to 7 March, 2010; No class on Purim, 28 February, 2010
Tuition: $140

Studying Torah is an act of love, especially studying the text in
Hebrew. This love is what can help us to find meaning even when we are
studying passages which are challenging, and maintain an awareness of
wholeness of the text.
This class will focus on methods of interpretation, using the lens of
the PaRDeS, the acronym of Pshat, Remez, Drash, Sod -- the fourfold
method of textual interpretation which opens the text, adds the
spiritual dimension and provides a holistic approach to text learning.
We will learn how to read Torah in a spiritual way, and introduce
classical and modern commentators.
Final decision on the time will be made by the registrants and the
teacher together. The course is limited to 12 students and we must have
a minimum of 7.

is an ongoing need for disposable diapers for young families with

Yitzhak and Moshe were eating in a Chinese restaurant.
"Yitzhak," asked Moshe, "Are there any Jews in China?"
"I don't know," Yitzhak replied. "Why don't you ask the waiter? I'd be
surprised if there were no Jews in China. Our people are scattered
everywhere."
When the waiter came by, Moshe asked, "Are there any Chinese Jews?"
"I don't know sir, let me ask," the waiter replied, and went back to
the kitchen.
The waiter returned a few minutes later and said, "No, sir. No Chinese
Jews."
"Are you sure?" Moshe asked.
"I ask everyone," the waiter replied. "We have orange Jews, prune Jews,
tomato Jews and grape Jews, but no one ever hear of Chinese Jews!"
