Getting
Involved
Community
Supported Agriculture (CSA)
Spring is in the
air, especially this week with the warm weather and
melting snow! I can just taste the fresh veggies I know are coming my
way. We still have spaces left for CSA memberships, including half
shares.
For those of you who have already joined, feel free to pass this email
on to friends.
If you
haven't joined, please consider becoming a member of Boulder Tuv
Ha'Aretz, an Hazon Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Program.
Through Boulder Tuv Ha'Aretz, a collaboration between Congregation
Bonai Shalom, Congregation Nevei Kodesh, Aish Kodesh, Congregation Har
HaShem, Pardes Levavot, and Adventure Rabbi: Synagogue Without Walls,
working with Hazon, you and your family can learn more about Judaism's
long tradition of care for the earth, and at the same time enjoy local,
fresh vegetables every week of the growing season from our organic
partner, Red Wagon Organic Farm. Your membership actively supports
sustainable agriculture here in Boulder.
CSA
is Community Supported Agriculture. You buy a share in a farm, and get
22 weeks of fresh, local, organic produce over the summer. You can
pick up your produce at either the Boulder JCC on Kalmia on Tuesdays or
at Bonai Shalom on Cherryvale Rd. on Thursdays. There is more
information and a produce calendar at: www.redwagonorganicfarm.com/CSA.htm
It's our
intention through Boulder Tuv Ha'Aretz to bring the growing cycle
closer to our everyday life. As the global environmental and economic
situation continues to change, we believe we can create a world where
we are all more deeply connected to each other, and the planet. As a
Tuv Ha'Aretz member, you'll be personally involved. Visit the farm, and
volunteer for at least one pick-up shift during the season.
Boulder Tuv
Ha'Aretz members share a concern that all members of our local
community have access to fresh food. With that in mind, any extra
produce not picked up will be donated to those in need.
DEADLINE:
Applications will be taken until all spots are filled.
More
information about Boulder Tuv Ha'Aretz or an application, please feel
free to email any questions you have to: boulderjewishcsa@gmail.com

Volunteers
for Passover Seders
JFS need
volunteers for brief Passover seders we will be holding
in local facilities for our Jewish seniors. Because these seders are
being held
the week of Spring break, we have had an especially small response. If
you will
be in town Monday thru Thursday, March 22 thru the 25th, won’t
you consider giving Jewish Family Service an hour and a half of your
time?
These services are so important to our seniors – it’s one way of
showing them that there is a Jewish community that cares about them.
Below is a
list of the
senior facilities where we will be holding abbreviated Passover seders.
As
always, we would appreciate any and all things that you might do - from
bringing a jar of horseradish, to helping serve or set the table, or
mingling
with the residents. If you’ve never volunteered before, we promise you
will take wonderful feelings away with you.
Here's our
schedule as it stands right now. Call or email us
if you can help in any way.
Monday,
March 22 - Passover
Seder at The Meridian at 4pm (801 Gillaspie - off Table Mesa)
Tuesday,

Thursday,

Abe ran into Moishe
one afternoon. "Moishe, nu? What's new?"
"Abe, I'm into racehorses
at the moment. I have a couple of real winners and have won a lot of
money
already."
"How can I get into
it, Moishe?"
"Well, I have a
horse I'm looking to sell. It has had 24 starts and won nine of them.
I'll
let you have it for $120,000."
Abe agreed and gave
Moishe a cheque for $120,000.
Three days later,
Abe was excitedly waiting at the front gate for his horse to arrive.
The
horse van pulled up and inside was a dead racehorse.
A month later, Abe
runs into Moishe, who has been avoiding him the last few weeks.
"Moishe, nu? What's
new?"
"Umm, things are
well. And with you?"
"Things are great!"
"Abe, you're not
upset I sold you a dead racehorse?"
"Not at all Moishe.
In fact, it made me a lot of money."
"How is that? It
was dead!"
"Well, I had a raffle.
I sold 100,000 tickets at $5 a ticket with the horse as the prize."
"Wasn't the winner
upset he won a dead racehorse?"
Abe shrugs, "so,
I gave him back his $5!"
