Getting Involved

From the Shepherd of the Hills Bulletin

Sean & Staci Griffin Memorial Service - We mourn the tragic loss of Sean & Staci Griffin, who were murdered in their stove business in Boulder last week. Shepherd held their memorial service Friday, May 21. A memorial fund has also been set up for the Griffins' daughter through Wells Fargo. You may contribute to any nationwide Wells Fargo location under "Griffin Memorial Fund".

Shepherd Now Has Recycling Pick Up - We now have an outdoor recycling container available next to the trash container on the southeast corner of the building. The recycling container is labeled "Recycle" on the outside of the lid. Please take care when emptying trash to place it in the trash container, and not the recycling container that looks just like the trash container, except for the label. Many thanks to Karen Johnson for the universal blue recycling containers that are strategically located throughout the building. Please help us by placing large recyclable items directly in the outdoor recycling container, such as pizza boxes, flattened cardboard boxes and large plastic containers.

A group of elderly Jewish men meet every Wednesday for coffee and a chat. They drink their coffee and then sit for hours discussing the world situation. Usually, their discussion is very negative.

One day, Moishe surprises his friends by announcing, loud and clear, “You know what? I’ve now become an optimist.”

Everyone is totally shocked and all conversation dries up.  But then Sam notices something isn’t quite right and he says to Moishe, “Hold on a minute, if you’re an optimist, why are you looking so worried?”

Moishe replies, “Do you think it’s easy being an optimist?”
